Q1: |
Only
students are allowed to code? Can Professors also code?
|
A1:
|
All
members in a team can code.
|
|
Q2: |
Do we
need to attempt all 3 problems? Can we choose only one problem?
|
A2:
|
Each
problem is handled independently. You can register one or more problems.

Q3: |
How many
people form a team?
|
A3:
|
For each
team, the
number of team members is not restricted.

Q4: |
How can
we send our solver to you? via Email?
|
A4:
|
We
will set up an FTP server. All submissions should be done via ftp. The
detailed requirement for submission will be announced later.
|
|
Q5: |
Is it
possible to work on a different platform, such as on the Windows OS?
|
A5:
|
It
depends on each problem. Almost all submissions will be evaluated on
the Linux platform. You may develop your tool under Windows OS, but you
must port it to Linux before submission. Otherwise, your submission
will be considered as failure.

|
Q6: |
Could we
cite a paper that is accepted but not published yet?
|
A6:
|
The
contestants can refer to a paper that is accepted but not published

program code.
|
|
Q7: |
What
needs to be submitted for each problem?
|
A7:
|
Basically,
the contestants should upload two files: (1) a binary executable file;
and (2) a README file (a text file to describe how to run your
program). However, depending on the problems, you may be asked to
submit additional files for the evaluation.
|
|

What is
alpha and beta test submission?
|
A10:
|
Before
your final program submission, we provide an alpha test and a beta test
for your programs. The alpha and beta tests help you verify the
correctness and performances of your programs which will be executed in
our evaluation environment. We will provide you the evaluation results
of each test. Based on them, you can further improve your programs
before the final program submission.

programming languages can we use?
|

machines.
|
|
Q13: |
Are only
students allowed? Or may be engineers from industry?
|
A13:

The

Q14: |
How can
I use the CIC machines?
|
A14:
|
We
will create an account on the CIC machines (Linux CentOS) for each team
to develop and verify its programs. However, for security issue we will
need the IP addresses of the machines that you will use to get access
to the CIC machines. Note that you can provide us more than one IP
address. Please fill your IP addresses into the IP Addresses field of
the registration form of your team.
|
|
Q15: |
Do we
need to use the CIC machines to develop our program?
|
A15:
|
The
topic chairs will use the CIC machines to evaluate the programs. To
ensure the consistency, you are encouraged to use the CIC machines to
develop your program. However, even if you do not use the CIC machines
to develop your program, you still can upload your program for the
alpha test, beta test, and final test.
|
|
Q16: |
If we do
not submit files in the alpha test, are we still qualified to submit
files for the beta test?
|
A16:
|
Yes.
Even you do not submit files in the alpha test, you can still submit
files in the beta and final tests. The alpha and beta tests are only
for your own references. The contest awards will be given based on the
